Gatekeepers News reports that the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika disclosed this to State House correspondents after Wednesday’s FEC meeting which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Sirika explained that the entire sum would be spread over a number of projects to be carried out at the airport.
The approval comes barely 24 hours after the new terminal at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, was inaugurated.
Gatekeepers News reports that Buhari had during Tuesday’s inauguration, disclosed that he had directed the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, to source funding for the second runway project of the Abuja airport.
Sirika, when asked by state house correspondents how the government intends to raise funding for the project, said the administration would use the same approach employed for raising funding for other projects across various sectors.
The runway project is expected to be delivered in 12 months.
