Debest Osarumwense, the mother of an alleged internet fraudster also known as ‘Yahoo boy’, has been sentenced to prison for receiving over N91 million fraud largesse from her son, Endurance Osarumwense.
Gatekeepers News reports that she was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) on a one-count charge for aiding her son.
Debest was found guilty of receiving N91,296,150 “being proceeds of his criminal activities”.
Justice M. S. Shuaibu of the Federal High Court in Benin sentenced Debest to five years imprisonment on Tuesday.
Debest was convicted and sentenced after she pleaded “guilty” upon arraignment by the anti-graft agency.
