Convoy of former President Goodluck Jonathan was involved in an accident on Wednesday, leaving two persons dead.

Gatekeepers News reports that the auto crash occurred along the airport road in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The two persons who died in the accident were aides to the former President.

It was gathered that the accident occurred when Jonathan was on his way from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to his residence in Abuja.

FRSC spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem has confirmed the incident. He said Jonathan was not injured as the car he was in was not part of the ones that crashed.

The FRSC spokesman also confirmed that two other aides were also hospitalised at the National hospital in Abuja after they sustained various degrees of injury.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, while reacting to the development, said, “This story comes across with a rude shock. We thank God for sparing the life of President @GEJonathan. But it is heart wrenching that he lost two of his aides to the auto accident.

“I console the immediate families of the deceased as well as President Jonathan. May the souls of the departed Rest In Peace.”
