Remains of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba (Dr.) Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, will be buried by 4.00 p.m today (Saturday).
Gatekeepers News reports that the Alaafin joined his ancestors late Friday. He breathed his last at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, after a brief illness.
Head of Oyo Mesi, who is the Prime Minister of Oyo Kingdom, High Chief Yusuf Ayoola, revealed that the Oba will be buried today in line with Islamic tenets.
“We have called the Imam. Baba will be buried today around 4pm,” the Oyo prime minister told journalists.
According to him, the necessary rites of passage had been performed.
Meanwhile, many residents have stormed the palace in a mournful mood over the passage of their frontline traditional ruler.
