Anambra: Real Reasons Behind Resignation Of PDP Ad-hoc Delegates Panel Members

Following the election of the PDP’s 3-man Adhoc delegates in Anambra, new developments have emerged as two members of the electoral panel have recanted their earlier positions.

Recall that Gatekeepers reported the holding of the election and how the electoral panel committee members were held hostage for more than two hours.

These members comprise the Chairman, Jibrin Ahmed and members of the committee, Captain Frank Ntima, Hon. Amara Ogbu, Barr. Azubuike Odoh, and Engr. Ogbonna Victor signed a letter sighted by Gatekeepers News notifying the public of the cancellation of the 3-adhoc delegates’ election. The said letter, the committee revealed, was written under duress.

In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the PDP, Iyiorcha Ayu and dated May 1st and signed by every member of the committee, it was revealed that the election was indeed held and was free and fair except that they were held hostage by some members of the party led by Tony Nwoye and were forced to sign that the election was cancelled.

How Two Committee Members Made A U-turn After Receiving ‘Bribe’

Two new documents by Captain Frank Ntima and the committee’s Secretary Barr. Ogbonna Victor, addressed to the PDP national chairman, are currently making the rounds.

In the documents sighted by Gatekeepers News, the duo claimed the effect that their signatures were forged to give the impression that they endorsed the narrative of the Congress taking place in Anambra and affirmed that it, in fact, did not hold.

This has raised confusion as these committee members were reportedly said to recant their earlier positions that the congress indeed held.

Gatekeepers News gathered from sources close to the situation that Nwoye and Valentine Nzigbo were able to reach out to these two committee members who “were bribed to recant their earlier positions”.

In letters sighted by Gatekeepers News and addressed to the PDP’s National Chairman, Captain Ntima and Engr. Victor revealed that the election was not held, despite initially claiming otherwise.

Gatekeepers News also sighted a document handwritten by the Secretary, Victor claiming that the election was held. This further puts the allegations of forgery made by the Secretary and Captain Ntima in doubt.

A source close to the situation spoke to Gatekeepers News and said;

“It is curious to note that the secretary of the panel who has now recanted was actively at the press conference where the claim was made to the effect that the election indeed held.

“How he has now turned full circle debunking his earlier position further lends credence to the drama playing out.

“The point must be made that this attitude of making a statement and turning around to recant is not new in the PDP as there have been celebrated cases in the past where this happened like the case which led to Senator Uche Ekwunife’s then ouster by the courts where the chairman of the panel that conducted the primaries, came to court and testified to the effect that the exercise did not hold when in fact, he had earlier issued a report to the contrary.

“The point must be emphasised that our polity is replete with such instances where individuals compromised by parties obviously on the losing side completely turn around to debunk statements that they had earlier made, and it is instructive to note that this same secretary who had now-debunked his earlier signed document to the effect that the Congress held, actually wrote the now recanted report in his handwriting before it was typed and signed by all panel members.”

Screening Committee Seals Fate of Aggrieved Politicians

After the results of the screening committee emerged on Monday, May 2nd, Gatekeepers News discovered in the documents that the aggrieved PDP members Tony Nwoye and Valentine Ozigbo were both cleared for their Senatorial ambitions.

The current Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Stella Oduah, was also cleared according to the document sighted by Gatekeepers News.

The only senatorial aspirant not cleared by the party was Chuma Nzeribe. The party did not clear him due to deliberate misinformation of the party on his past court trials.

This further raises confusion about the 3-Adhoc delegate’s election issues as the reason for the tussle is yet to be understood.
