Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum, has withdrawn from the presidential race in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gatekeepers News reports that this comes days after the minister submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms to the ruling party, APC.
On May 9, the Northern Solidarity Group presented the APC’s Expression of Interest and Nomination form to the minister to enable him to contest the party’s 2023 presidential primaries.
Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s order that all political appointees vying for an elective position in the 2023 election, the former governor of Bayelsa State has returned to his ministerial work despite the submission of his forms.
According to reports, Sylva was said to have been forced to earlier submit his resignation letter to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha on Friday.
