Ex-Deputy Gov Wins Sokoto APC Governorship Ticket

Former Deputy Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has won Sokoto All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary.

Gatekeepers News reports that Sokoto, who was the party’s 2019 governorship flag bearer, scored 1080 votes to clinch the party’s ticket.

He defeated five other contestants.

They include Senator Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir, 36; Umar Abubakar Gada, 0; Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, 16; Amb. Farouk Malami Yabo, 27 and Abubakar Abdullahi Gumbi, 01 respectively with 23 invalid votes.

The election committee chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Kyari, said based on the APC constitution as amended: “I hereby declare Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto as the eligible and duly elected as the party’s flag bearer for the 2023 general elections .”
