Call To Raise A Future: Help Faith Ifeoluwa Andrew Earn Her Scholarship

“Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope.” “Education is a human right with immense power to transform. On its foundation rest the cornerstones of freedom, democracy, and sustainable human development.” – Kofi Annan

The first sight of these pupils sends a message of hope for the future. If everything goes as planned, their families can hope for the best. They’re naturals, desirous of being the people their teachers show them.

Once in a while, some nice cars come into their school and they want to own them. They want to be the people building the computers they love to use. But their realities are different. Many things are unsure and dire. On a few of them, luck will shine. Sometimes when it does, they’d still need the world to come together and make their lives count.

One thing that is true about these kids is their hunger to learn. They want to feel and see the world. How to achieve it is still some distant knowledge, but everyday, they feel it’s palpable. They’re sure things will be great and everyone around them wants the same for them.

When Faith was informed by her teacher that she has a scholarship from a big school in the state, she couldn’t contain her joy. Her classmates were just as happy and everyone shared in the good news. It was big deal for the school. One of theirs is on the verge of having a great opportunity to make a difference. And she has always shown it. Her talent and raw brilliance have never been hidden. For her teacher, it was expected.

“She works hard. She studies all the time and is a giant in her actions. She’s always willing to help her colleagues. She teaches them and is a ready learner too,” he said.

Faith Ifeoluwa Andrew is an 11-year old pupil of the Christ Anglican Primary School Iwade Ijebu-Ife, Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria. She recently won a scholarship from Louisville Girls High School, Ijebu-Itele, also in Ogun State.

Louisville is a girls-only school considered to be one of the best in the state and in the country. Some of their students in the past have had flying grades in their WASSCE examinations, and always look out for the best indigent students deserving of a scholarship award.

With outstanding performances in various competitions, Faith has continuously stood out amongst her peers and has shown a sense of responsibility beyond her years.

She’s the President of her school’s Junior Engineers, Technicians and Scientists (JETS) club. She represents her class and school in competitions across the state and has won a number of chess tournaments.

Awareness for a Mathematics Clinic in the school. They gathered a team, designed cardboards and engaged in awareness throughout the school.

Her teacher, Taofik says she shows a great knack for education and is never complaining.

She has learnt basic Excel and data entry skills, taught by her teacher who says he sees her as an opportunity to make an impact.

“I grew up in an environment where I saw many brilliant kids live with the disappointment of not achieving their dreams. When I met Faith and her classmates, I felt a burning urge to make a strong impact before the end of my fellowship. I’m elated by her scholarship award and I’ll be glad if she makes it.”

Faith shines in Mathematics where she has represented her zone in many competitions.

She, alongside her peers came up with the idea of organising a Mathematics Clinic for others. They designed cardboards, and held an awareness programme to inform every pupil in the school. She’s a leader in her dealings.

The clinic has proven to be an opportunity for pupils across classes to bring their Mathematics problem. Through the clinic, she has also trained students from other schools.

Faith on many occasions has taught her peers and teachers how to play Chess. Her willingness to impact knowledge has always seen many of her classmates show her an admiration and respect. And these were the values observed by Louisville Girls High School that made the school’s authorities extend a scholarship award to Faith.

But here is the issue. Faith’s fate is currently not in her hands. She needs our help.

A list of necessary materials, including books and others has been sent by the school, and these materials are to be provided by Faith’s parents.

Her mother is a petty trader and can’t afford what is being demanded, which is in the region of N215,000.

The letter sent by the school and the list of materials attached to it have been attached.

What Faith needs at the moment is N215,000 to achieve her dream of getting sound secondary education from one of the best schools around. Her scholarship covers JSS 1 to SSS 3, but she needs this first payment to activate her scholarship and live her dream.

The deadline for the payment of this money is July 29th as resumption has been slated for September.

Faith has shown a rare ability for a child her age and can’t afford what’s currently being demanded by the school. With the kindness of the world and the hearts that care, her dream is valid and her fate is in her hands.

This is a call for help to help this girl begin her life in a place where many better things can happen. She has done her part and is determined to keep doing it. She needs us to help encourage her towards betterment.

Thank you.

NB: Every amount earned will be accounted for and stated and there’ll be receipts for the payments to this cause. Thanks all

Editor’s Note: Owing to meeting the requested sum, the account details have been taken out of this story but the story has been left to inspire as many children as possible.
