Banky W Gets Another Chance As PDP Plans Fresh Primary

Popular Musician, Olubankole Wellington better known as Banky W has gotten another chance as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will repeat its house of representatives primaries in Lagos state, South West Nigeria.

Gatekeepers News reports that this was disclosed in a statement signed by the PDP’s Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

He said approval had been granted to repeat the primaries in some federal and state constituencies.

The party has also rescheduled its primaries for some other constituencies in Imo, Benue, and Katsina states.

The statement added that the decision followed deliberations on the reports of the electoral and appeal panels on the congresses in the affected states.

He said the National Working Committee (NWC) approved the repeat primaries as follows:

Ahiazu State Constituency of Imo State

Orsu State Constituency of Imo State

Musawa State Constituency of Katsina State

Dandume State Constituency of Katsina State

Zango State Constituency of Katsina State

Oru East/Orsu/Orlu Federal Constituency of Imo State

Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency of Benue State

Lagos State House of Representatives Primaries (24 federal constituencies)

Confusion had trailed the victory of Banky W, the musician, at the PDP primary for the Eti-Osa federal constituency in Lagos.

He had clinched the party’s ticket to contest after polling 28 out of 31 votes cast by delegates.

But in a dramatic twist, the election’s final result submitted at the PDP headquarters in Abuja recorded that the singer only secured seven votes while the winner polled 23 votes.
