Senate President Ahmad Lawan has not defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Gatekeepers News can confirm that the viral video alleging the Senate President’s defection was an old video where Lawan was reading the defection of the Senate leader, Yahaya Abdullahi.
A section of the media (not Gatekeepers News) had reported the viral video as defection to the PDP. This is in the wake of the Senate President’s announcement as the consensus candidate of the APC in the build up to the party’s presidential primary. A decision the party’s stakeholders widely opposed.
The Senate President, however, lost the presidential primary to the former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu.
Gatekeepers News can, however, confirm that the news on the defection of Senate President Ahmad Lawal from APC to PDP is fake and should be disregarded.
