As part of efforts to fully implement Refinery Projects in the country, Nigeria will be getting a privately-owned Greenfield 100,000bpd refinery in Port Harcourt.
Gatekeepers News reports that the privately-owned refinery will be collocated within the premises of the existing Port Harcourt Refinery (PHR) undergoing rehabilitation in Eleme, Rivers State, Southern Nigeria.
The multibillion project which is owned by African Refineries Port Harcourt Limited (ARPHL) would be constructed and completed in three years.
The contract was awarded to Messrs Maire Technimont SpA, a leading global Oil & Gas Refining, Chemical & Petrochemical, Fertilizers, and Power EPC company as the FEPC contractor.
According to reports, the 100,000bpd nameplate capacity refinery will process Nigerian crude oil and produce Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), Jet A-1, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), and Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO).
Meanwhile, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited is also trying to rehabilitate the old refineries and have private partners build new ones within Warri, Kaduna, and PH from the combined 445,000bpd capacity to 695,000 bpd.
ARPHL’s emergence as the collocation partner to run and operate a 100,000 BPD refinery on 45 hectares of vacant land follows a transparent bid process conducted by NNPC in-line with the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE) guidelines.
