North East Development Commission (NEDC) on Wednesday presented medical equipment to 7 Division Nigeria Army Hospital, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital ( UMTH) and the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital ( FNPH) in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Commission also presented a cheque of N48.3 million to UMTH to support Cancer Research at the Institution.
The Managing Director of NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali made the disclosure in a ceremony that was presided over by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Nasir Sani Gwarzo.
At the 7 Division Army Hospital, NEDC presented a five-part haematology analyser, high-frequency mobile X-Ray machine, full-automatic analyser, V100 spectrophotometer and electrolyte analyser.
The Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital received an X-Ray machine with Digitizer, State of Art Ultra-sound Machine with 3 probes among and consumables from NEDC.
The NEDC also presented over 200 beds to the UMTH apart from the cheque of N48.3 million for research on cancer.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Dr. Nasir Sani Gwarzo urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment.
“Make the best use of the equipment to save lives. A lot more will come,” Dr. Gwarzo said.
The Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Christopher Musa commended the NEDC for donating to the 7 Division Army Hospital.
Other beneficiaries; the Chief Medical Director of FNPH, Professor Ibrahim Wakawa and the Chief Medical Director of UMTH commended the NEDC and urged the Commission not to relent in its Humanitarian gesture.
