Sacked Zamfara Monarch Dies In Egypt
Dethroned Emir of Zurmi in Zamfara state, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku has died in a hospital in Egypt.

Gatekeepers News reports that the monarch died on Friday after a brief illness.

He was flown out of the country a few days after family members noticed his health condition was deteriorating and needed urgent medical attention.

His remains will be buried in his hometown, Zurmi where he was emir until he was deposed for allegedly conniving with bandits.

Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle sacked the monarch over alleged involvement in banditry activities.

He was detained in the Government House for some months.

The Emir and two other monarchs were later charged to court by the State government due to pressure from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

The court, however, granted them bail.
