Ayu Refusing To Resign Because Of N14bn Primaries Proceeds — Wike

Rivers State Governor, South South Nigeria, Nyesom Wike has continued his diatribe against the National Chairman of his party, the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, accusing him of being fixated on the N14bn the party raised during primaries.

Gatekeepers News reports that Wike said this while speaking at the commissioning of a road project at Omerelu in Ikwerre Local government area of Rivers.

Wike said this in response to the salvo of Ayu, who in an interview with BBC Hausa, described those calling for his resignation as children who didn’t know when the party was formed.

Ayu said, “I have not violated any rules; in fact, I am working to bring reforms to the party. I am truly not bothered by the unnecessary controversy being generated.

“When we started PDP, these children were not around. They are children who do not know why we formed the party. We will not allow any individual to destabilise our party.”

Reacting to the comment, Wike described Ayu as a greedy man who was only after his own interest.”

Wike, who took exemption to Ayu’s remarks that Governors idemanding his resignation were children when they formed the PDP, said the party helmsman has displayed the highest level of ingratitude.

He reminded Ayu that those he referred to as children were the ones who made him PDP Chairman.

He said Ayu lacked integrity for not keeping to his words before he emerged as chairman and warned Nigerians to be careful of a party, which could not keep to its internal promises.

Describing Ayu as arrogant, Wike called him an ingrate for describing him and members of his team as children.

He said those Ayu addressed as boys would teach him a lesson saying “election is not always the way you look at it”.

Wike said, “You can imagine what power can do. You can imagine the ingratitude; how people can be ingrates in their lives. I thought as a chairman of a party who wants to win elections, your business is to bring peace to your party; your business is not to divide your party. Your business is not to show arrogance to your party.

“Yes, the children brought you to be chairman of the party. The children brought you from the gutter to make you chairman.

“Ayu, you were impeached as senate president. Ayu, you were sacked by Obasanjo in his administration. Arrogance cannot take you anywhere. Now, we have seen that you don’t want the party to win the election. We will help you.”
