Rico Swavey’s Treatment Delayed Over Money – Colleagues

Former Big Brother Naija housemates, Alex Asogwa and Bambam, have called out the Lagos-based hospital where their colleague Rico Swavey died.

Gatekeepers News reports that Rico, whose real name is Patrick Fakoya, died on Thursday and a video filmed by one of the nurses on duty as he battled for life has gone viral and received condemnation among Nigerians who are calling for a probe into the negligence of the health officials.

Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced that the authorities had commenced an investigation.

“That hospital is not a government hospital; we have started an investigation into the unprofessional conducts of those who appeared in that video,” Omotoso said.

The deceased colleague, Alex accused the hospital of stalling the treatment of Swavey because of money.

“My God will punish these hospitals that take time to start working on people that are rushed to hospitals. I hate you all, You are all horrible. You’ve caused us so much pain all for what? What is money that you let lives go like these by stalling? I hate you. You all deserve hellfire! This hottest and most wicked corner,” she wrote via her Instagram story.

Also reacting, Bambam claimed the hospital demanded money first before attending to Swavey — despite his critical condition.

“Shouldn’t hospitals care first and demand bills later? How on earth do you insist on money first before attending to a critical case or making videos then decide later? All those seconds wasted could have saved him. Dear God the human heart is desperately wicked. Are these healthcare professionals human? I pray they don’t become victims of their own kind,” she wrote.

Gatekeepers News reports that BBNaija stars like Tobi Bakre, Leo DaSilva, and Eloswag had solicited N30 million donations for Rico’s treatment.
