Driver Flees As Truck Kills Three

The driver of a truck coming from Offa, Kwara State to Osun State, Southwest Nigeria which reportedly killed three people in Ikirun, has fled.

Gatekeepers News reports that the accident which occurred around Emiloju Area, Ikirun when the truck driver allegedly lost control and hit two persons on a motorcycle and a passerby sparked a protest.

The unidentified truck driver was said to have fled immediately after the incident.

Some angry residents, however, embarked on protest and attempted to hijack from the police some of the occupants of the truck who were initially rescued from the scene.

Contacted, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Paul Okpe, confirmed the accident, saying the truck was coming from Offa to Osun.

Okpe said, “Three people lost their lives. Two of them were on a motorcycle and the last one was just walking near the road. We lost lives due to reckless driving. We will keep engaging with the leadership of the truck drivers in the state to ensure safety on the road.”
