JusticeForWasiuOduwole: Monarch Begs Court To Restrict Media Comments

Nureni Oduwaye, a traditional ruler in Ogun State, South West Nigeria, has appealed to the Magistrates’ Court 1 in Sagamu, to warn Wasiu Oduwole against discussing the matter on social media.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Ogun monarch caused permanent blindness on Wasiu’s left eye after he used his leg to kick him severely over an allegation that he danced with his queen during a birthday celebration at Moore Blessing Hotel in Ikenne, Sagamu Local Government Area of the State, on September 21, 2022.

Wasiu, who has continued to deny the allegation, was contracted to prepare catfish pepper soup for guests of the party when the incident happened.

On Wednesday, when the case was mentioned in Court, the Monarch, through his attorney, appealed to the presiding Magistrate to restrict media comments on the matter, a request that was immediately turned down.

Oduwaye’s attorney also notified the court that he is yet to file the necessary documents for the case.

The case was, thereafter, adjourned to Wednesday, October, 26th 2022.

Gatekeepers News earlier reported that the ‘unremorseful’ monarch, with the help of the Sagumu Area Commander, had initiated a suit against the victim without serving him a notice and was granted bail by the court without their knowledge.

Gatekeepers News source confirmed that the monarch took the step after he had offered to pay him off when the matter was made public. The development prompted Wasiu to initiate a case against Oduwaye at the Magistrates’ Court in Sagamu, to get justice.
