The Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo North District and immediate past National Chairman of the Party, Adams Oshiomhole has donated food and relief materials to victims of flood in some parts of Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, Southern Nigeria.

Gatekeepers News reports that a truck of Rice has been donated to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in Oghomhere-Ekperi.

Etsako Central APC Publicity Secretary, Elias Inaede disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

According to him, the former Edo State Governor, who was represented by the Director-General of his Campaign Council, Abdulganiyu Lawani, said, the gesture was borne out of his unquenchable determination to touch the lives of his people and the need to identify with them in their trying period.

Oshiomhole said that the responsibility of taking care of IDP must not rest on the government alone but on all patriotic Nigerians.

The statement read in part, “The Former Edo Governor stressed the need for all IDP Camps in the Country to be well equipped to meet International Standards with a view to giving the affected Victims sense of belonging and encouraged them not to be discouraged by their present situation.”

Oshiomhole while calling for sustained prayers to end the flood menace, urged the flood victims to be proactive to government warning by relocating to the upland to avoid loss of lives and property.

The Ex-APC National Chairman said if elected as the Senator representing Edo North at the Red Chamber, he would ensure that the people of the District receive democracy dividends from the Federal Government.

The Former Nigeria Labour Congress President said that the Federal Government had taken several measures to build infrastructure and improve the quality of life of the people.

In his remark, the Deputy State Chairman of the APC and Deputy Director General of the Campaign Council, Jarret Tenebe commended the Former Governor for alleviating the sufferings of the Victims in the affected Local Government Areas.

Tenebe asserted that Oshiomhole can provide the needed representation that would consolidate and continue to ensure the gains of democracy in the senatorial district and appealed to them to vote en masse for all APC candidates in the general election.

The Deputy State Chairman of the APC further said that the Former NLC President was a tested and trusted Leader who would unite and join other Progressives to move Edo North forward.

The Chairman of the party in the Council Area, John Saliu appreciated the former APC National Chairman for having the people at heart and called on the victims to support and vote for APC in the forthcoming general.

On his part, the Edo State House of Assembly candidate in Etsako Central Constituency, Ahmed Waziri Oshomah, said APC was committed and concerned about their welfare and urged them to reciprocate the gesture by voting for all the party’s candidates.

On the entourage of the APC Senatorial candidate were Abdulganiyu Audu, Jarret Tenebe, Ahmed Waziri Oshomah, John Saliu, House of Assembly Candidates, Political Associates, and Leaders of the party in the area.
