Ojo Joseph, a 54-year-old man in Ondo, Southwest Nigeria, has reportedly set his five stepchildren ablaze after their mother denied him s*x.
Gatekeepers News reports that the incident happened on Sunday morning in the Fagun crescent area of Ondo town.
The suspect was said to have poured petrol into the room where the children were sleeping and set fire to it.
One of the children was burnt to death while others suffered severe injuries and are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.
The man’s wife and their 18-month-old twins escaped from the inferno with minor injuries, according to reports.
The State Police Spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami confirmed the incident, saying Joseph has been arrested.
She noted that an investigation has begun and would be concluded before charging the suspect to court for alleged arson and murder.
