National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has kicked out some Prospective Corps Members (PCM) from its various orientation camps nationwide.
Gatekeepers News reports that the various PCMs involved are graduates of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) and the University of Ibadan (UI).
A PCM who spoke to Gatekeepers News on the condition of anonymity lamented that officials of the NYSC detected that the two institutions did not complete the date of graduation entered on the statement of results handed to their graduates.
Meanwhile, the NYSC had earlier instructed all institutions to write the complete date of graduation on the statement of results they issue to their graduates.
The PCM said, “We Students of UNN and UI have been in NYSC camp but we haven’t been registered since Wednesday due to our statement of results.
“Their reason is our statement of results is to carry both day, month, and year but it’s just carrying month and year. So we have been asked to leave camp today.
NYSC delegates and officials are saying our various schools have been told for some time now to work on changing the statements of results but these schools have been adamant and wicked to the extent of allowing us travel down to different states before we were being informed by the NYSC officials and now we have been thrown out of our various camps.”
The PCM added, “…we students leaving us stranded and rejected in camps.”
Considering the security threats facing the country at the moment, Gatekeepers News reached out to the stakeholders involved for their reactions and how to sort this out without students travelling back to their various institutions, however, none of them have responded to calls and messages as of the time of filing this report.
