United States President, Joe Biden on Sunday morning, welcomed Democrats control of the Senate as Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto won her seat in Nevada.

Gatekeepers News reports that Cortez Masto beat Republican challenger Adam Laxalt, a former state attorney general who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

This means Democrats are guaranteed 50 seats, enough to hold the majority with Vice President Kamala Harris’s casting vote – and with one race still undecided in Georgia.

In his reaction, Biden said “It’s always better at 51 because we’re in a situation where you don’t have to have an even makeup of the committees. And so that’s why it’s important mostly.

“But it’s just simply better. The bigger the number, the better.’”

The American President noted that he was now focused on the final race in Georgia, in the hopes that Democrats could win one more seat and extend their power.

Laxalt’s defeat cements a poor showing for Republicans, who hoped that President Joe Biden’s low popularity rating, a cost of living crisis, and the usual backlash against the party in power would bring them sweeping gains.

Trump himself has emerged as a GOP scapegoat as several of his picks performed badly.

On the campaign trail, Biden railed repeatedly against extremist, MAGA Republicans.

“I think the Republican Party is going to have to make like other political parties in the past have done: It’s going to have to decide who they are,” he said.

Biden added that he was pleased with the midterms turnout and said it reflected well on the caliber of Democratic candidates.

He even raised the prospect that Democrats could hold on to the House of Representatives, in what would be an extraordinary blow to Republicans.

“I’m confident they could,” he said. “It’s a stretch. Everything has to fall our way.”
