Kogi Central Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senatorial Candidate, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has promised to donate the sum of five million naira to pay the WAEC fees of students in the district.
Gatekeepers News reports that Akpoti-Uduaghan made this known on Sunday when she met with students and different groups rooting for her candidature in her country home in Ihima, Okehi LGA, Kogi State.
She noted that the payment will help parents cushion the burden of paying the WAEC fees of their children in the five local government areas of Kogi Central senatorial district.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who further promised to do more, convinced different organisations to channel their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to support educational programmes when she gets to the Senate.
She said, “I am doing this as a private citizen, I know it’s not enough but I promise to do more and support educational development of our people when I get to the Senate.”
The PDP senatorial candidate also pledged to work with students when she gets to the National Assembly and charged them to find solutions to societal challenges through innovative ideas.
She said, “When you get back to your various schools, spread the message of hope, this is one chance to fix the future, four years is too long to waste.”
Akpoti-Uduaghan has been supporting the educational development of her people. In 2015, she adopted 600 children in her country home and gave them scholarships for them to have access to quality education.
Similarly, the senatorial candidate earlier gave scholarships to students in higher institutions for them to achieve their academic goals.
