Nikaah Connects, an NGO committed to improving positive mental health and marital stability, held its first-ever e-conference on Sunday.
Gatekeeper News reports that the e-conference, themed “It Is Time To Rise”, had mental health practitioners enlighten participants on the psychology of trauma and dua to recover from pains.
Sessions of the event also include Quran recitation, business presentation, questions & answers and prize giving.
One of the speakers, Dr Habeeb Dosunmu who is a Clinical psychologist, noted that many Nigerians are going through traumatic situations in every aspect of their lives. He spoke extensively on what causes trauma, symptoms and signs to watch out for, and tips on how to overcome it before it leads to clinical trauma, which is a very serious stage that would require the intervention of either a psychiatrist, psychologist or psychotherapist.
According to him, the majority of suicide cases in the country are caused by traumatic situations that the affected person who could not overcome or get needed help from an expert.
Dr AbdulFattah Adeyemi, Director of Art, Counseling and Culture, whose lecture focused on ‘alchemizing pain into dua’ noted that pain is part of human existence. Acknowledging that pains are not uniform, he stated the various reasons for pain and advised participants on the power of dua.
According to him, dua is a magical remedy if the purpose of the pain is already established. He also advised the participants of the event to perform Ruqyah (a method of treatment of the Prophet Muhammad, both for the treatment of physical, mental, or mental illnesses, and non-medical) consistently, read Quran (holy book) as he recommended some verses.
Sunday’s event was the first out of the scheduled 2-day conference as the second will hold on December 17th (Sunday).
