Labour Party’s (LP) Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, has reacted to the comments made by a popular businessman, Arthur Eze, concerning his presidential bid.
Gatekeepers News reports that Obi, on Wednesday at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, told reporters that the billionaire has the right to his own opinions and ideas, as well as the freedom of speech and expression.
Eze, according to the former governor of Anambra State, is a renowned father and mentor not only in the South East but throughout Nigeria, and his opinions are always appreciated.
Obi, however, urged his supporters not to allow adverse comments to dampen their spirit or force them to lose focus on rescuing the country in 2023.
Obi advised his supporters not to allow what some consider as adverse comments to dampen their spirit or force them to lose focus on the goal.
“Such speeches should always be taken positively, as reminding us that we still have several hurdles to cross and to remain focused at all times, without being dragged back.”
Obi stated he is prepared to remain with many suffering Nigerians, who see the 2023 election as the hope for Nigeria to overcome the sufferings of the past and start a new life.
The LP flagbearer opined that everybody is suffering in the Nigeria of today, noting that some are more directly affected than others.
Gatekeepers News earlier reported that Eze distanced himself from Obi’s aspirations when speaking at the 2022 Ofala celebration of HRH Igwe (Dr.) Robert Eze, the traditional ruler of Ukpo in Anambra State’s Dunukofia Local Government Area.
Arthur added that he advised him not to waste his money because he was not convinced that the Labour Party flag bearer can win the 2023 presidential election.
“I warned Peter Obi to withdraw from this race but he would not listen. I told him plainly that I am not part of his plans. I told him to drop his ambition, and wait for next time.
“When he told me about his ambition, I asked him the states he thinks he can win in the west and in the north – he told me; but I was not convinced. I told him he cannot win; so that he would not waste his time and money.”
