Wives Of Governors Welcome First Babies With Gifts

Governors’ wives welcomed the first babies born in 2023 and celebrated them in various states.

Gatekeepers News reports that in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, the First Lady, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, paid a visit to the Eti-Osa Maternal and Child Centre, Ajah, to welcome the first baby of the year on Sunday.

Mrs Sanwo-Olu was accompanied by the state Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi; the Chairman, Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr Atinuke Onayiga; the Permanent Secretary, of Lagos Primary Health Care Board, Dr Ibrahim Mustafa; and the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr Olusegun Ogboye.

A triplet was also delivered through Cesarean Section at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, on New Year’s Day.

The triplet consisted of a female who weighed 2.2kg and delivered at exactly 12.07 am, a male who weighed 2kg and delivered at 12.08 am, and a female who weighed 2.1kg and delivered at 12.09.

In Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria, wife of the governor, Bamidele Abiodun, visited the first baby of the year who was delivered by an amputee mother.

In Ekiti State, Southwest Nigeria, the First Lady, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, presented cash and gift items to the first baby of the year, born at Ise Ekiti at midnight on Sunday.

Dr Oyebanji, who was at the Comprehensive Health Centre in Oke Yadi, Ise Ekiti, where the baby was delivered, congratulated the family and prayed for more good things.

She charged officials of the health centre for the good work being carried out and urged them to continue in that direction.

Similarly, the governor’s wife was at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, on Sunday, where she donated cash and gift items to the family of Toba Owoeye, whom God blessed with triplets, a boy and two girls, last Wednesday.

The first baby of the year in Abia State, Southeast Nigeria, was delivered at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia. The baby was visited by the First Lady, Nkechi Ikpeazu.
