Actress, Ireti Doyle, has confirmed that she and her ex-husband, Patrick Doyle, a broadcaster, are officially divorced.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Nollywood veteran confirmed this during an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo on his show #WithChude.
The couple got married in 2004.
In a clip from this interview which she shared on Friday via her Instagram page, the actress said,
“We are officially divorced.”
“There is a time to be silent and a time to speak. In this age where everything one says is scrutinized and quartered; it takes a certain level of trust to bare intimate details .. we are here now.”
Ireti, 55, also said that she had no business being married at the time she did.
“When you’re an adult, it’s not a life and death situation…there are some situations that are way beyond your control. The truth of the matter is that I had no business being married at that time, period! let’s not even go to the choice of who I married.” she said
“I’m sorry if I contributed to shattering your image of love and a perfect couple, but my life is not an animation; I cannot sacrifice my life at the altar of your imagination or your fantasy.
So if I hurt anybody I’m sorry but I had to choose me.” – Ireti Doyle
Furthermore, in a Twitter exchange with some of her followers this morning, Ireti explained why she still bears Doyle despite the divorce.
“Ireti Doyle is a name that is nearly 30 years in the making. It’s mine” she said.
