Buhari Appoints Yusha’u Ahmed As NYSC DG

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Yusha’u Ahmed, a brigadier-general, as the director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Gatekeepers News reports that Ahmed is expected to assume office as the NYSC DG on Monday.

In November 2022, NYSC’s Director of Information and Communications Technology, Christy Uba, took over the leadership of the corps, following the removal of Mohammed Fadah as Director-General.

According to reports, Fadah was removed over alleged incompetence and asked to hand over to the most senior official in the corps.

His removal came less than seven months after he assumed office — he took over in May 2022 and became the 19th person to hold the position of NYSC DG.

However, the announcement of the new substantive DG was contained in an invite on Uba’s handing over made available on Sunday.

The invite tagged “New DG for NYSC,” read, “I am directed to invite you to the handing over ceremony from the acting DG to the 20th DG of NYSC, Brig Gen YD Ahmed, holding on Monday, January 30, 2023, by 11:30 amat the Major Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim Conference Hall, NYSC Headquarters, Maitama Abuja.”
