Chelsea Crash At Wolves On Lampard Return

Despite Frank Lampard’s return to Chelsea, the Blues have failed to secure a victory on his first game back in charge as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wolves.

Gatekeepers News reports that following Graham Potter’s sacking last Sunday after seven months in charge, Lampard made a surprise return to Stamford Bridge on Thursday when he was appointed until the end of the season.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder, who was dismissed by the club’s former owner Roman Abramovich in January 2021, failed to provide a spark for Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.

Although Lampard becomes Chelsea’s third manager this season following Potter’s exit and Thomas Tuchel’s sacking in September, the Club remain 11th after a fourth consecutive game without a win.

A goal from Matheus Nunes secured the victory for Wolves in the 32nd minute.

Lampard, Chelsea’s Chelsea’s record goalscorer, who was sacked by lowly Everton in January after less than a year in charge, will now turn his attention to Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg at holders Real Madrid.
