Ex-Nasarawa Deputy Governor Regains Freedom

Former deputy governor of Nasarawa state, Onje Gye-Wado has regained his freedom from captivity.

Gatekeepers News reports that Gye-Wado was abducted at his residence in Gwagi village, Wamba LGA of the state on Thursday.

The former deputy governor was said to have been released on Sunday after the payment of N4 million ransom.

Although the Command’s Spokesman, Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the release of Gye-Wado on Monday, he is not aware if a ransom was paid before the former deputy governor was released.

Nansel said Gye-Wado was set free following the “search and rescue” operation of the police.

He said, “We don’t support or encourage payment of ransom. So that is totally out of our knowledge. We don’t know anything about that.

“He was released due to the sustained effort of our search rescue team that was deployed.”

Gye-Wado is a professor and former dean of the faculty of law at Nasarawa State University.
