Peter Obi Not Aware Of Any UK Govt Apology – Labour Party

Labour Party (LP) says its Presidential Candidate in the February 25 presidential poll, Peter Obi is not aware of any apology issued by the British Government regarding the Heathrow Airport harassment incident.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Obi-Datti media office said Peter Obi was detained at the Heathrow Airport after being accosted by an immigration officer for an alleged duplication offense on April 7, 2023.

Following the incident, Spokesperson of the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, Daniel Bwala, via his twitter page, said the British government has apologised to Peter Obi over his detention at Heathrow Airport.

Bwala’s tweet read: ” British government apologized to Peter Obi for illegally serving him a detention note. Can you now put a “respek” on his name? We are now waiting for US government to apologize to Tinubu for illegally collecting the forfeited dollars……”

However, the Obi-Datti media  through Diran Onifade, has said they are not aware of such apology.

“We would like to state emphatically that we are not aware of any such apology, and have not issued any statement whatsoever, in that regard,” said the Head of the Obi-Datti Media, Diran Onifade.

Onifade, in his statement, also expressed confidence in the ability of the British authorities to resolve the matter.

“Mr Peter Obi and the LP/PCC have since moved on from the incident and continue to be totally focused, on the legal processes before the Election Petition Tribunal towards the recovery of our mandate, which we are firmly convinced, was overwhelmingly expressed by voters, in the Presidential election of February 25th,” he added.

Onifade had disclosed that Obi was “harassed” and “detained” by immigration officers at Heathrow Airport, United Kingdom for a duplication offense which suggests that someone has been impersonating Obi in London.

The incident was said to have occurred when Obi celebrated the Easter festivities in London. The former governor was also said to have been “rescued” by his followers known as Obidients who were present at the airport.

The British government has not issued any statement on the matter.
