Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) Biography And Net Worth

Richard Eyimofe Evans Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, is a Nigerian actor, writer, producer, lawyer, former journalist, and former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State, Southern Nigeria in 2009.

Gatekeepers News reports that RMD was born in Aladja community of Udu Kingdom, Delta State. He attended Midwest College, Warri, and Anglican Grammar School and was a member of the Drama Club.

RMD is an alumnus of the University of Benin and the University of Lagos where he earned a degree in Theatre Arts and Law respectively.

Early Career 

Although Mofe-Damijo took part in the soap opera Ripples, he gained more popularity in the rival soap Checkmate.

Before venturing into acting, RMD was a writer with Concord Newspapers, Metro Magazine, and Quality.

In 2005, he won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

He received writer/producer credit in the film Out of Bounds. At the maiden edition of the African Movie Academy Awards in 2015, Mofe-Damijo won the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

On 8 December 2021, RMD won an award at Ghana, a Black Star Honor at the Rhymes on Da Runway in Gold Coast, Ghana.

He has also starred in several blockbuster movies including Hostages, Diamond Ring, Out of Bounds, The Wedding Party, Chief Daddy, 30 Days in Atlanta, and, Namaste Wahala, amongst others.

In 2008, he was appointed as the Special Adviser of Culture and Tourism to the then Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, and later served as the State commissioner for Culture and Tourism between 2009 and 2015.

Personal Life

RMD was married to a journalist/publisher and talk show host May Ellen Ezekiel ‘MEE’. After she died in 1996, Mofe-Damijo married TV personality Jumobi Adegbesan, who later left TV presenting for the corporate world.

AMD  is a proud father of 5 children – three sons and two daughters.
