Gatekeepers News reports that Amadi, in a signed statement he made available on his social media during the election accused delegates of selling their votes.
Amadi had said, “I will not be a part of buying and selling of delegates which appears to be the norm ahead of the Imo State Labour Party gubernatorial primary.”
He maintained that “I have offered myself, my integrity, my competencies, and my courage to dislodge Hope Uzodinma, to mobilise the people to build a new Imo that is secured, prosperous, and accountable. I will not give anyone one kobo. I have given everything. I have dedicated myself entirely to being an exemplary Chief Executive of the state. I am coming to serve the people and to sacrifice everything to make Imo the most successful black state in the world.
“Delegates should vote for me if they like the message, or vote for another person if they like the money.”
Meanwhile, former Senator for Imo North, Athan Achonu, has defeated Amadi and other aspirants to clinch the party’s governorship ticket, ahead of the November 11 election in Imo State.
