Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has hailed Hilda Baci,a now-popular Nigerian chef seeking to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.
Gatekeepers News reports that On May 11, Hilda Bassey Effiong embarked on a 97-hour cook-a-thon to set a new world record for the longest cooking marathon.
She has been receiving public support from Nigerians who are cheering her on via social media.
In a statement via his Twitter page on Sunday, Atiku described the chef as “inspiring to millions.”
The former vice-president said he hopes that Hilda’s strength remains unbroken.
“We see you, Chef Hilda, standing at the crossroads of history, ready to carve your name in the annals of world records,” he wrote.
“This is no easy feat, but we believe wholeheartedly in your grit and your passion. You are inspiring millions by showcasing the strength of the human spirit.
“May your energy remain unbroken, for you are on the brink of making history. We believe in you. Nigeria believes in you.”
Speaking at a press briefing last week, Hilda Baci said she became “infatuated with the world record” since childhood.
The Akwa Ibom-born chef, who recently attempted a 24-hour cooking marathon, said she took the dry-run test to prepare for the world record title.
“We had a successful dry run. I say we because it was a collective effort of everyone,” she said.
The current record for the world’s longest cooking marathon is held by Lata Tondon.
Lata completed the task in 87 hours, and 45 minutes in India in 2019.
