Subsidy Cushion: RMAFC Urges States Houses Of Assembly To Hasten Relevant Laws

Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has urged Houses of Assembly in the 36 States of the country to hasten the amendment of relevant laws for the commencement of the implementation of the reviewed remuneration packages for political, public, and judicial officers.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Chairman of the commission, Muhammadu Bello Shehu, made the call during a presentation of the reports of the reviewed remuneration package to Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State.

The Federal Commissioner, Rakiya Tanko-Ayuba Haruna made the presentation to the Governor on behalf of the Chairman of the Commission, at a courtesy visit to the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

The chairman said that the move was in line with the provision of Paragraph 32(d) of Part 1 of the Third Schedule of the 1999 Constitution of the federal government (as amended).

He said, ”It empowers the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission to determine the remuneration appropriate for Political Office Holders, including the President, Vice President, Governors, Deputy Governors, Ministers, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Legislators and the holders of the offices mentioned in Sections 84 and 124 of the Constitution of federal government.”
