Nigerian Air Force has killed scores of Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters around the Lake Chad region.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Nigeria Air Force, through a series of air strikes, on July 15, destroyed hideouts of the terrorist group and dropped bombs in Arina Chiki, a known terrorist shelter in southern Tumbuns of Borno.

According to Zagazola Makama, a publication focused on the Lake Chad region, another group of terrorists on canoes around Kirta Wulgo, crossing the Lake were bombed by two Nigerian Air Force fighter jets.

“The terrorists were attacked by the aircraft while trying to cross the Lake to join their colleagues at Tumbun Rego for a possible attack on the nearby military checkpoint,” the publication says.

“The attack aircraft, while taking turns to engage the targets, delivered lethal bomb and rocket strikes, resulting in the destruction of some of the terrorists’ structures as well as leading to the neutralisation of scores of the ISWAP fighters.”
