UTME Top Scorer Umeh Bags Eight A1s In 2023 WASSCE

2023 UTME top scorer, Nkechinyere Umeh has again proven her academic brilliance, through the recently released results of West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Gatekeepers News reports that the 16-year-old Anambra indigene aced the exam with eight A1s and a B2.

Her school, Deeper Life High School in Mowe, Ogun state, Southwest Nigeria confirmed her result to TheCable Lifestyle on Thursday.

A breakdown of her result showed that she got A1 in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Further Mathematics, Economics, Civic Education, Computer Studies and Dyeing and Bleaching.

Umeh only failed to make A1 in Physics where she got B2.

She became a viral sensation after she got 360 in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Umeh scored 99 in Chemistry, 98 in Mathematics, 97 in Physics, and 66 in English Language.

Several individuals and institutions have celebrated her for the feat.

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra state granted her a full scholarship to study any course of her choice at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), while Deeper Life Bible Church gave a scholarship to study any course of her choice at the Anchor University.

Meanwhile, Umeh applied to study Chemical Engineering at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

Gatekeepers News earlier reported that West African Examinations Council (WAEC) said  79.81 per cent of the total candidates (1,287,920) obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects including English Language and Mathematics in this year’s WASSCE.
