Kano State Government has instructed that the increase in fees for private schools be put on hold.
Gatekeepers News reports that this decision comes after a meeting between the Special Adviser to the Kano State Government on Private Schools, Baba Umar, and stakeholders from private schools.
As part of Governor Abba Yusuf’s commitment to quality education, schools must also renew their operating licenses.
Umar highlighted that the suspension of increment of school fees for private schools is to ensure that there are no exploitations.
While Kano schools are currently on vacation, they will soon begin a new session after dealing with price hikes due to subsidy removal.
However, there are varied opinions among school owners and parents regarding the government’s choice.
