Defence counsel for suspended Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele, shielded him from journalists after his court session at the Federal High Court, Abuja on Thursday.
Gatekeepers News reports that Emefiele has been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) since his suspension on June 9, 2023.
He was accused of conferring corrupt advantages on Sa’adatu Yaro, a director in April 1616 Investment Ltd.
In the video clip, Emefiele could be seen dodging journalists who had already surrounded him while he received a call in the witness box.
After his call, the embattled suspended apex bank chief attempted to exit the courtroom with his head bowed but was advised against this by his lawyers who escorted him out.
His legal counsel could be heard saying in Yoruba language, “Don’t crawl, walk up straight.”
