Conflicting reports have emerged concerning the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) status of Hannatu Musawa, the Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy.
Gatekeepers News reports that while an alleged statement released by the Minister on Sunday asserted that her appointment as minister while still undergoing compulsory NYSC does not contravene Nigerian law, another statement from her office indicated that she has not yet commented on the matter.
“I deeply value and appreciate the support, solidarity, and understanding of Nigerians in these times. For clarity, I wish to state that I have not issued any statement on the current issue,” read the statement signed by Suleiman Haruna, the Deputy Director, Press of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
The NYSC status of the Minister has been the subject of a heated debate since it was revealed that she was participating in the scheme.
Hannatu is among the 45 ministers who recently received portfolios from President Bola Tinubu following their confirmation by the Senate.
