Manchester City forward, Erling Haaland has been named the UEFA Men’s player of the year.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Norwegian was announced winner of the award in Monaco at the champions league group stage draw on Thursday.
Haaland defeated Lionel Messi and Kelvin De Bruyne to clinch the award for the first time after a wonderful display last season.
Haaland won the champions league, Premier League and FA Cup with Manchester City last season finishing with 52 goals in 53 games
Haaland also won the PFA player of the year earlier in the week and now won this after a sublime first season in England.
Notably, the UEFA Women’s player of the year went to Aitana Bonmati. The Barcelona and Spain midfielder had a superb season, including winning the Women’s World Cup with Spain.
Manchester City Coach, Pep Guardiola won the UEFA’s Men coach of the year 2022-2023 award after winning the Champions League and the Treble last season.
England’s Women coach, Sarina Wiegman, was named UEFA’s Women coach of the year. She won the award after guiding her side to the final of the Women’s World Cup and winning the Finalissima against Brazil at Wembley.
