Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT), has affirmed the victory of Bola Tinubu in the February 2023 Presidential election.
Gatekeepers News reports that PEPT dismissed the petitions filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the election of Bola Tinubu.
The court after faulting the petitions of the parties, affirmed the declaration of Tinubu as the President of Federal Republic Of Nigeria.
Delivering judgement on PDP’s petition on whether the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was right to return the Tinubu as duly elected by the majority of lawful votes case.
The tribunal held that the petitioner did not proved the allegations on this ground and indeed all the grounds in their petition.
Justice Haruna Tsamani said, “This petition accordingly lacks merit. I affirm the return of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The parties are to bear their cost.”
On the issue of Tinubu’s conviction and the issue of his dual citizenship, the court held that these issues were incompetent and liable to be struck out and same were indeed struck out.
