JUST IN: Court Restrains Prince Ghandi From Parading Self As Soun-Elect

An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso, Oyo state, Southwest Nigeria has restrained Oyo state Governor and eleven others from taking any action on the vacant stool of Soun of Ogbomoso.

Gatekeepers News reports that since the transition of the late soun of Ogbomoso there have been a level of unrests on who to ascend the throne within the ruling house,a matter which had degenerated into litigation.

The State Governor, Seyi Makinde, had approved the appointment of a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Afolabi Olaoye, as the new Soun of Ogbomoso.

The selection of a new monarch had last year nosedived into a legal battle as the Chairman of the Screening Committee for Laoye Ruling House in Ogbomoso, Abdulwahab Laoye, said the family had not selected anybody to fill the vacant stool.

However, a statement by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Olusegun Olayiwola, on Saturday, said the announcement followed the long-drawn processes specified under the law.

He also urged all sons and daughters of the city to work with the new monarch to consolidate the successes of his forefathers.

The court in its prayers gave an order “restraining the 1* 2 & 3″ Respondents either by themselves, agents, servants or officials from presenting any instrument of oflice in any form of ceremony or issuance of certificate of installation to the 12′ Respondent pending the hearing and final determination of the mandatory injunction already filed before this court.

b) AN INTERIM ORDER is also made restraining the 12″ Respondent from parading. representing and/or presenting himself as candidate for any ceremony for the issuance of certificate of installation and/or permitted himself to wear any regalia resembling that of the occupant of the stool of Soun of Ogbomoso Chieftaincy pending the hearing and final determination of the mandatory injunction already filed before this court.

c) The Claimant/Applicant is hereby directed to serve the Motion on Notice for Mandatory Injunction on all the Respondents in this case. The matter is adjourned to 12* September, 2023 for hearing of the application.”
