Following the 13 year-old Boko Haram Insurgency, the Managing Director of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Mohammed Alkali is already considering the establishment of museum to preserve relevant records and provide information for future research purposes.
Gatekeepers News reports that Alkali has set in motion talks with the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) and intends to reach other relevant stakeholders on how best to bring the Boko Haram insurgency museum into reality.
Alkali stated this on Thursday at the El-kenemi hall of UNIMAID during an occasion to commemorate the 2023 International Day of Peace which was organised by Peace Ambassador Centre for Humanitarian Aid And Empowerme (PACHAE).
According to Alkali, the establishment of the museum will assist the University of Maiduguri and the North East Region in area of research on violence extremism that will benefit the future generation.
“We’re considering establishing a Museum in conjunction with the University of Maiduguri to bring in the physical aspect of the insurgency as they rack their brain on research and other things.
“This will help our future generation to understand what had happened in literature and also see some of the physical items,” Alkali said.
While speaking on the 2023 International Day of Peace, the NEDC boss noted that everyone must contribute to sustanance of peace within the North East Region and beyond
“For us in NEDC, we will continue do all to bring peace directly or indirect to the region.”
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of award to the NEDC boss as Ambassador of Peace.
