Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Jos, the state capital, has affirmed the victory of Caleb Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Governor of the State.
Gatekeepers News reports that the tribunal dismissed the petition filed by Nentawe Goshwe of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Tribunal held that the PDP held a valid congress in Plateau State on 25 September 2023.
It further held that the issue of nomination and sponsorship of a candidate is a pre-election matter.
The tribunal had earlier dismissed the petition filed by the governorship Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Alfred Dabwan against Governor Mutfwang.
Dabwan earlier approached the tribunal seeking the nullification of the poll over the alleged exclusion of his party’s logo on the ballot by INEC.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Mutfwang the winner of the poll after polling 525,299 votes to defeat Yiltwatda, who polled 481,370 votes during the March 18 election.
