Job Description:
The Ticketing Officer plays a pivotal role in a travel agency’s operations by assisting clients with their travel arrangements, issuing tickets, and ensuring that all booking details are accurate and comply with airline regulations. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and proficiency in reservation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Booking and Reservations: Use computerized reservation systems (e.g., Amadeus, Sabre) to book flights, hotels, car rentals, and other travel-related services according to clients’ preferences and budget.
- Ticket Issuance: Issue airline tickets, including electronic tickets (e-tickets) and paper tickets, accurately and in accordance with airline rules and regulations.
- Fare Calculation: Calculate and explain fare details, including taxes, fees, and any applicable discounts or promotions, to clients.
- Itinerary Management: Create and manage travel itineraries for clients, ensuring that all details are correct, including flight times, layovers, and accommodation bookings.
- Customer Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries, concerns, and requests related to ticketing and reservations.
- Documentation: Verify and process clients’ travel documents, including passports, visas, and travel insurance, in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Payment Processing: Collect payments from clients for tickets and travel services, issue receipts, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Flight Changes and Cancellations: Assist clients in making changes to their travel plans, including rebooking flights, changing dates, or canceling reservations, while adhering to airline policies.
- Upgrades and Special Requests: Handle requests for seat upgrades, special meals, and other passenger preferences, and liaise with airlines to fulfill these requests.
- Travel Advisories: Stay informed about travel advisories, visa requirements, and health and safety guidelines to provide clients with up-to-date information.
- Sales Promotion: Promote travel agency services, including travel insurance, tours, and other ancillary products to increase revenue and enhance the client experience.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in travel and tourism or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in a travel agency, airline ticketing, or a similar customer service role is preferred.
- Proficiency in using computerized reservation systems (CRS) such as Amadeus is a must, minimum of 1year hands on experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with international travel regulations, visa requirements, and travel documentation.
- Basic knowledge of geography and airline industry trends.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an office environment, including extended periods of sitting and computer use.
Salary Range: ₦100,000 – ₦150,000/month
