The chapter of local security operatives referred to as the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) is currently at daggers drawn as one faction is accusing its President of diverting 13 patrol vehicles.
Gatekeepers News reports that the faction led by the current auditor of the organisation Bashir Abbas announced the indefinite suspension of its president, Lawan Ja’afar.
Abbas also announced during a press conference in Maiduguri on Sunday that Baba Shehu Abdulganiyu as acting president pending the appointment of a substantive leader.
According to Abbas “Having regard to Article 6 rule 2(vi) of the CJTF constitution, the leadership have unanimously decided to suspend its President in person of Lawan Ja’afar who is alleged to have misappropriated some Hilux vehicles given to the organisation (CJTF) by the Borno State Government for operational purposes and 2 other Hilux vehicles given to the organisation by the NNPC for operational purposes too..”
But in a swift reaction, the CJTF President, Lawan Ja’afar has described baseless, unfounded misleading and misleading allegations against him and dared the Abbass-led CJTF to report the allegations to relevant security agencies for investigation.
Lawan insisted that he remained the president of the CJTF and could not be suspended from office by a few of his colleagues.
“All allegations against him are unfounded. If truly they (the Abbas group) are serious they should approach the relevant security agencies for a thorough investigation. A very few of my colleagues cannot act outside the constitution to suspend me from office,” Ja’afar said.
The President however stated there is a possibility of both camps coming to a round table and ironing out their differences.
“Immediately we set out of here, we’re meeting with a superior security agency who will call the other group to a meeting,” Ja’afar.
