Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has announced the establishment of a Situation Room to handle reports related to the upcoming 2024 governorship election in Edo State and other state and national issues.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Chairman of the Edo NUJ, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, revealed this development during a press briefing at the Press Centre in Benin City.
Comrade Alenkhe said that the creation of the Situation Room was essential to protect politicians and high-net-worth individuals from potential impostors who have been diverting them to obscure locations under the guise of organising press briefings.
“Edo NUJ Situation Room (SR) has been created by the Council and is opened for whoever is in need of its services which is mainly press briefing especially as it relates to the 2024 governorship election and other related state and national issues.”
Comrade Alenkhe highlighted that this initiative was carefully thought out to ensure that politicians and individuals are not misled by impostors who may not adhere to the dictates of the journalism profession potentially leading to legal issues.
