All Progressives Congress (APC) has set up a committee to reconcile the dispute between Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State (Southwest, Nigeria) and his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Gatekeepers News reports that shortly after his return from his three-month medical leave in Germany, the Governor sacked the media aides attached to the office of Aiyedatiwa, a development that stirred speculations that all was not well between Akeredolu and his deputy.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State House of Assembly has commenced an impeachment move against the Deputy Governor over an allegation of abuse of office.
The lawmakers have asked the Chief Judge of the state, Olusegun Odusola, to set up a seven-member committee to probe Aiyedatiwa.
Aiyedatiwa has since faulted the impeachment process.
However, APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, while inaugurating the committee on Friday in Abuja, said the committee would advise the party on the best possible way to handle the issues.
The committee is headed by Aminu Masari, the immediate former governor of Katsina.
Ganduje said the terms of reference of the committee was, “To interface and engage with all contending partner(s) with a view to gathering facts and circumstances surrounding the lingering impeachment process of the deputy governor.
“To advise the party on the most amicable ways of handling the lingering issues leading to the impeachment process of the deputy governor.
“To make necessary recommendations to the party on resolution of issues and any other matter that may come up in the course of the assignment.”
Members of the committee include Gboyega Oyetola, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, Martins Elechi, Obafemi Hamzat, Tilley Gyado, Ita Giwa, Tokunbo Abiru, and Liman Abbas who will serve as secretary.
