Lagos State Government has evacuated the burnt tankers and vehicles at Sifax inward Costain road.
Gatekeepers News reports that the tankers and vehicles got burnt after fire ignited when one of the tankers was ascending the bridge but suddenly rolled back onto the other tanker and other vehicles.
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Thursday night, “The number of people trapped in the inferno could not be ascertained at the time of this report, but preliminary assessments revealed that 3 container laden trucks, 2 tankers laden with unknown but highly inflammable contents, 1 tipper truck laden with gravel, 1 flatbed truck and 3 cars are in the pile up.
LASTMA added that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and Nigeria Police have succeeded in bringing the incident under control.
As of 7:45AM, today – Friday, LASTMA announced partial closure of the road for the removal of the affected tankers and vehicles.
