Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Abdulazeez Adediran, has filed an appeal challenging the re-election of Babajide Sanwo-Olu as governor of the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that the tribunal on September 25, dismissed the petition filed by Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, for lacking in merit.
In reaction to the ruling, Adediran said the tribunal refused to accept credible and convincing evidence presented by his legal team on the non-qualification of candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP) in the election.
According to him, the decision of the tribunal did not reflect the provisions of the constitution, assuring that “Lagos PDP will study the judgement and decide on the next step to be taken.”
Adeniran in the 35 grounds of appeal filed on Friday, is praying the court to set aside the judgement of the tribunal.
He said the tribunal erred in law and reached a wrong conclusion when it dismissed his petition.
Adeniran said, “By this action, I reaffirm my commitment to birth a breath of fresh air in governance in Lagos state by ensuring that the provisions of the constitution and the electoral laws as regards election of a truly qualified governor, is upheld.”
